Juventino is the leader within the isolated community of La Soledad. There are no roads only a trail that leads to the nearest road. To reach it, community members must trek on foot for two hours each way. During harvest season coffee producers must bring their coffee down to the road. Juventino helps by gathering everyone's coffee and uses his mules to bring the sacks of parchment down to the road for transport to our dry mill.
The communities isolation and the difficulties that come from it often leave an opening for local predators in this case the local buyers who are called "Coyotes" to take advantage of the farmer's necessity and charge an inflated price for transport that's often paid at a discounted price for their coffee. Thanks to Juventino he shields his community from these predatory practices.
